Docking station for intermediate bulk container (ibc)

In additive manufacturing, efficient and clean transfer of metal powders between storage and production facilities is critical. The challenge often lies in creating a dust-free connection during this transfer, particularly when dealing with strict safety and cleanliness requirements.

Enables quick and dust-free Ibc connection

The vDock docking station by Volkmann allows for the rapid and dust-free connection of Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) to vacuum conveying systems. This system features the VIAS docking valve which automatically establishes a secure connection between the IBC and the conveyor line when the IBC is positioned using a forklift trolley. Unique to the vDock is the hexapod mounting, which compensates for any misalignment of the IBC, simplifying the docking process. The valve also enables partial emptying and re-sealing of the container, allowing for complete removal without powder escape. Suited for handling metal powders in 3D printing and other additive manufacturing processes, the vDock system is designed in compliance with ATEX standards. Features include options for inert gas operation, integration with weighing cells, and the ability to connect up to six conveying lines. All surfaces in contact with powder are made from anodized aluminum or stainless steel, ensuring no contamination or product degradation.

Benefits

  • Quick and secure connection to IBCs
  • Dust-free transfer of powders
  • Supports partial emptying and re-sealing
  • ATEX-compliant for safety in hazardous environments
